The stars might lie, but the numbers never do

We are back at home, and significantly happier and more relaxed for a nice long weekend in Cambria and Paso Robles.

A Zinfandel Festival Weekend Recap by the numbers:
  • Days of vacation: 4
  • Wineries visited: 24 different wineries in 21 locations (though Midnight Cellars, Castoro Cellars, Zenaida Cellars, and Sylvester Winery really should each count as 2 when you look at the sheer number of tastings involved once you throw in barrel samples, additional labels, library tastings, etc.)
  • Number of wineries at which we enjoyed bites of Santa Maria Style BBQ and other delicacies: 7
  • Parties attended: 1
  • Number of vintners and winery owners and various family members there of whose time we monopolized: I have honestly lost count. So many people were so very generous with their time and knowledge once we expressed interest in their passion, that it was truly a gift. Particular standouts for this were Midnight Cellars, Paso Port, Barrel 27/Herman’s Story/McPrice Myers and Four Vines.
  • Delicious dinners enjoyed: 3
  • Amazing new finds: 6 wineries in 4 locations (Well new to us anyway. Should you have the opportunity, I highly suggest you check out Four Vines, Barrel 27, Herman’s Story, McPrice Myers, Zenaida Cellars and Pretty-Smith)
  • Duds: Only 1, not bad
  • New wine clubs joined: only 1, we were good!
  • Additional foodie excursions: 1 gourmet cheese shop & 1 Farmer’s Market
  • Cases of wine purchased: This number has been censored to protect the guilty
  • Wine purchases enjoyed this evening: only 1, a nice Marsanne. It is a school night, after all. We are enjoying a good bit of the cheese though :)
  • And the most important number of all - 1 amazing good time!
