California. Boy I don't know.

I have decided that California is neither a blue state, nor a red state, nor the mottled blue and red state I used to picture when I thought of it’s political leanings. No, in reality, California is so confused politically that we are one giant ugly-shade-of-purple state* where the red and the blue blend together so badly, that we can’t decide what ( Read more... )

Any given person can be okay. Collectively people are generally frightened sheep looking for a guy with a shepherd's crook, any guy will do.

I firmly believe that last part goes double during election season.

Maybe triple.

And when you mix a scary recession with said election then it might rise to quadruple.

I completley agree with you!

Like I said, I voted against all three on lack of state budget grounds (5 would wind up costing a _lot_ in legal fees as everyone and their cousin previoulsy convidted wants to be retired and in terms of many of those let out on parole committing new crimes and being re-tried, re-sentenced, etc... IMO ( ... )

A good deal of your state budget every year is dictated by the confused purple voters. I feel bad for the legislature because they often have one tied behind their back by voters and then are the scapegoat when it goes wrong.

Yeah, No to gay marriage but Yes to Prop 2 that is infinitely more detrimental to public health and the farming industry, (It's complicated) than any gay married person ever was.

Truthfully I think every state is purple (Florida, won by a Democrat but still hates gays!) because people just don't stop and think, or research, or care really about what they're voting on MEANS. It still amuses me that the stats showed that you were more likely to vote No on 8 if you had some college education, regardless of your race or religious background. What does that tell you?

I definielty understand the detriments of prop 2 and was a no vote on that as well.

I think you are unfortunately quite right about the purpleness of most states and the reason behind it. I actually think that that is the best explaination for California voting back the incumbents everyone was griping about. When it comes right down to it, it's easier to gripe and check the box next to the name you know than it is to research a new candidate. Sad but true.

I had not read the education stats on prop 8 voting but they do not surprise me. *sighs*
