…I de-stressed, relaxed, and stopped worrying for two whole days…and then it was right back to work, reality, and more interesting in that Chinese curse sense economic news…
But it was still a really nice weekend. Mortgaged, Midnightgambler and I played Settlers of Catan a few more times. Then Mortgaged roped me into Civ…which led to me staying up playing Civ with him until 3 Saturday morning and 2:30 Sunday morning. Settle. Build a city. Add workers. Mine. Build swordsmen. Hunt barbarians. Build catapults. Yeah, this could prove to be a deliciously bad thing if I let it.
In between Civ sessions, I got a little more work done on the home office, preparing it to be Mortgaged’s office. We had Sdmdm8 (edit) over for dinner and more Settlers of Catan. Mortgaged, Midnightgambler and I went to see Apaloosa - a truly fantastic western, and I am a geek for westerns so I outta know. Great characters, fantastic dialogue. A classic premise done well with a few new twists and turns. And the acting! Jeremy Irons. Viggo Mortenssen. Ed Harris. Renee Zellweger. All excellent.
After the movies, we went to the bookstore! And we acquired a couple of things I had been lusting after - The Graveyard Book, Whiskey Rebels, and the Story of Edgar Sawtelle. And that was a really nice way to end the weekend. Then it was back to the grind…but with new books. So how can I complain?
