Turning 22
I turned 22 on Saturday and received two birthday surprises in a day. ;)
I had spent the night in JB on a retreat with the Young Adults and we ran the usual programme, with the obligatory countdown and toast to the new year. Nobody said anything, and I didn't expect them to make a deal out of it. And I had messaged all my friends to tell them not to call or sms me since I was out of town, so the only message I got was one from my folks to wish me happy birthday. :)
Then close to 2 in the morning, I was on the second storey of the house playing Scrabble Take-2 with the guys when the lights were dimmed (I thought the power tripped) and marching up the stairs came Aaron with a bouquet of pink roses, Suresh with a guitar and somebody else with a cake! Jen prayed for me and all of them shook my hand and asked me to make a speech, so all I said was that I was sad that I wasn't 21 and young and cute anymore. :P
I got flowers from Min and Cher, a book from Carol, a CD from my CG and the cutest- a puffer-fish piggy bank (it looks exactly like me when I do my signature pout!) from Clue and Kaf that came in a funky DIY box that took Kaf two nights to make. =)
After I was back in SG, I was so tired I fell asleep at around 5 and didn't wake up till 9ish. I was going to continue sleeping, but I decided to eat my dinner first, heh.
So I sat in the dining room with my siblings watching TV and eating fried bee hoon when the maid came and switched off the lights. I turned around, ready to scold her for being so rude- couldn't she see I was eating my dinner?!- when my sister walked out of the kitchen with a small birthday cake and everyone sang me my song. Awww...
But anyhow, I better get back to work. Hope you all have/had a good start to the year!
