a little bit of relief goes a long way.

I had to wake up early this morning to make sure I was on time for my traffic appeal at the Worcester Court House. I had two paychecks to deposit, so on my way I stopped at the bank. My balance is a lot lower than I thought it was, and after deposting $151, I now have -$301.36. Not good. I freaked out a little, and I think my poor steering wheel took the brunt of it. If you've ever seen The Whole Nine Yards, picture Matthew Perry's character spazzing out in his car as he leaves for work. That's pretty much what I did after reading my bank receipt.
So I get into Worcester and I'm not sure where the court house is, thank god I'd mapquested it. Or NOT. One of the streets mapquest sent me down was closed for construction, so I took the street after that and ended up where I needed to be. I almost panicked so I'm glad I found the street when I did. I couldn't find a parking spot anywhere, so I had to use the municipal lot that only has metered spaces. I was lucky enough to have a few quarters on me, which I almost never do. I put in two hours' worth because I wasn't sure how long I'd be in the court house. I wasn't in there for very long because as soon as they called my name, I went into the magistrate's office and the state trooper who was there immediately said that they weren't pursuing the case any further and that I'd be found not responsible. I was so happy, I almost cried. That was a $250 ticket and I was so certain they wouldn't be very lenient. But I was wrong. So I left the court house and walked back to my car, only to find that I'd only used 30 minutes of my meter time. Oh well. I drove home happy as a penguin, even though I'm tired due to my lack of sleep, and even though I have to work later tonight.
I've never been so happy to see the letters "NR" as I was today.
