6 years ago, on the very day of the 6th grade only school dance, only hours before the dance was to begin, I was facedown on the cafeteria table, had a fever of who knows what and could barely swallow air. I was devastated because I had strep throat and couldn't go (oddly enough, that was 4 days before 9/11, and as a result I spent that day at home watching the news).
Today, I was supposed to be in Dallas with the majority of the newspaper staff for next year at a journalism workshop. Friday night/Saturday morning I had a major fever (I don't know exactly what it was, I didn't take my temperature, but I could tell it was bad). It went down later Saturday morning, but my throat started to hurt a little. Last night I finally looked at it, and I could have sworn that I saw the tell-tale white crap on my tonsils that signals strep. I went to the clinic this morning and they did a test for strep, which came back negative. However the lady said she couldn't be certain that it wasn't a virus, and she advised against my going to Dallas for a week and being cooped up with 4 other people in a hotel room.
Plus my right tonsil is like, swollen to the max. It's kinda scary.
But at least I get to watch the 1 hour Harry Potter special on A&E tonight...
