End of the School Year Happenings

Only three more school days of this year!!  I can't believe that Sophie is going to be in grade three, Chloe will be in grade one, and Finley will be going to kindergarten next year!!  It is so exciting!  I guess it is a bit sad too, but I don't really feel sad right now, just excited.  That could change as it gets closer.  I am looking forward to having a little bit of time to myself and being able to go the gym every day if I want to.  I am also looking forward to bettering myself by taking classes in preparation for going back to work once Finley gets to grade one.

The last few days will be busy ones.  I have been invited to several happy hours after school and one in the morning (coffee w/Bailey's).  I had a couple of friends over on Friday for an end of the year backyard party.  The kids were awesome and kept each other busy while we talked and enjoyed wine on the back patio.  Considering there were ten kids all together!!  And the house wasn't even too messy at the end of it!  It only took me about 15 minutes to clean it all up.

I'm so excited to get the final report cards on Tuesday and see who the girls are going to have for their teachers next year.  I am looking forward to summer, but in a way I am sad to see our routine go.  I'm going to try my hardest to keep a routine, but it always starts slipping.  I am also going to try to keep planning lots of playdates, so that the kids don't get bored and I don't go crazy--so I can have adult interaction.  Luckily there are lots of people going to be around throughout the summer.

Because Chris has his new job he is on his probationary time for three months, which is the whole summer essentially.  So we can't do a vacation this year.  However, when he started he requested two days off in August when he signed the contract so we can go away with Ken and Louise.  So I'm really looking forward to that.  We are going to do low key parties for Sophie and Chloe this year since we did a big one last summer.  This year I think I'm going to let them each pick two or three friends to do something specific.  Luckily I now have most of their close friend's parents on Facebook so I can easily get a hold of them during the summer, so I don't have to even think about it until it gets closer.  Speaking of birthdays, I can't believe Sophie will be 8 this year, and Chloe 6!!  They are getting so big.  How is it possible that I'm going to be the mother of an 8-year-old?!?  I love it though--it is so fun seeing them grow up and I love the people that they are.  It is cool to actually have more in depth conversations with them as they get older.  And we are now able to do so much more with them.

In fact, yesterday Chris took Sophie on a Daddy/Daughter date.  First they went to his office and dropped off the picture that Sophie had painted for him for Father's Day.  She loved seeing his office last week and really wanted to go again.  She loved the mini-putt in the hall and wanted to see if there were any more games.  Plus she loved the view from his window.  When we went for the first time last weekend she said "Wow Daddy, I wasn't expecting it to be this fancy!  Can our house be this fancy someday?"  Chris and I looked at each other and burst out laughing, and said, "Maybe when Mommy goes back to work and you guys are older and don't wreck everything nice that we buy!"  Anyway, they went there and then to the CN Tower for Sophie's first visit.  After that they went to the St. Lawrence Market on the way home and grabbed filet mignon for a BBQ.

While they were gone I decided to take the other girls to get some ice cream.  I decided to ride my bike.  I hadn't had it out yet this year so I got it down and pumped the tires and got the Chariot all hooked up.  Luckily Chloe still fits in it fine.  And it is still really light as a feather to pull.  So we headed down to Leslieville to Ed's Scoop.  Then after that we went to a park close by and they played for quite awhile.  It is so easy to watch just two kids!  Plus now that I don't have to worry about Finley running off it makes it more relaxing too!  We had quite a nice time.  Then we biked back and by the time we got back Finley had fallen asleep.  Chris and Sophie had arrived home by then, so we started up the BBQ.  Now we are about to head out to Chloe's last T-Ball game.   It's trophy day!!  :)
