These are really in character for me. Regretfully, and this is still in praise of your rendition of them, Ianto and Jack are just the way (he who shall not be named) wrote them. Of course he then dangled something else in front of us for a while, but reverted to the factory settings -'doomed' Ianto and 'shallow' Jack - before he jumped ship. Shame we didn't get a chance to jump him - and not in a good way!

I liked the cool style of these stories btw. You've got something here that isn't romantic, isn't comforting, but it's realistic - and that pleases me strangely.
(ponders whether to use a comma there - pleases me, strangely. Both ways are about right I think LOL)

Thanks. I'm glad they felt in character to you. I sometimes have trouble writing Jack and keeping him in character.

I think Jack falls back on shallow because shallow is easy. I don't think of Ianto as doomed (and am still in denial) but he's not one to take the easy path when there can be pain and anguish. I think he's so amazing because he keeps going, keeps fighting. No matter how crushed he gets, he still finds something worth fighting for.

Thanks. I think I like being strangely pleasing. I quite like that description. lol

Thank you. I can't resist the little knife twist at the end.

I like these! I haven't been reading and voting for the LAS challenge - haven't had time to read so many stories all at once - so I don't know how yours compare to the other entries, but I'm surprised you got voted out with the last one. Somehow it makes the way Jack treated Ianto after Lisa's rampage even worse - Ianto was so close to telling him everything, Jack could have prevented more deaths if he hadn't brushed Ianto off like that.

My favourites are the first and third, I think.

Some of the LAS stories have been fantastic, if you suddenly find you've got some spare time. The last one had some serious technical issues -missing words, punctuation, and the like- so I felt the elimination was completely justified. I had to clean it up before I felt I could post it anywhere else. Premise was good, but I failed on execution.

Thank you. Jack had a serious blind spot early in the series. He was not the leader that he was supposed to be. I always thought it was horrible how they treated Ianto. And you don't become invisible overnight.

Thank you. I really appreciate the comment.

I really like the last one. I'd like to think that Ianto had made some token attempt to bring Lisa up to Jack or someone on the team and the way you did it is very convincing, he was shut down or shown just how he wasn't part of the team and fell back on to self-preservation. Beautiful.
I like your characterization of Jack and Ianto. As the first reviewer mentions, it's largely how RTD set them up and I think you portrayed it beautifully by showing the complexities that made up their... well for lack of a better word, relationship. They have their faults and are beautifully messed up and you write it so well. If I'd been following LAS, which I regret I'm not due to a huge work load right now, I'd have voted for you.

Thanks so much. I'd like to think that Ianto tried to connect. The way he was just dismissed early on (and even later on) really grated on me. It takes time to become invisible.

I'm so glad the characterization worked for you. I sometimes have trouble keeping Jack in character. Thank you. Life is messy, and people are messier. Thanks so much, you are very kind.

I liked them all. I particularly liked Ianto finding his strength in the second one.

Oh, the last one hurt. Ianto is on the verge of telling Jack, but Jack blows him off, totally taking Ianto for granted. Ouch.

Thank you. The second one is my personal favorite.

I like to think that Ianto would have tried to reach out. He was taken for granted, throughout the series, but especially early on.

Thank you.
