Softball and Sunburns

Ahh lovely - I'm actually sick in the summer. This has NEVER happened before! Ugh. And to top it off, I have the worst sunburn I have ever seen on anyone. My skin actually started to blister and bubble yesterday, which is indeed every bit as gross as it sounds. Long story short, I was at Wasaga on saturday and used this new spray-on sunscreen on my chest and stomach, only to find out that it doesn't work. Luckily I got fed up with trying to spray it and used someone else's for the rest of my body, so only my chest and stomach are burned. So a word to the wise: Banana Boat spray-on suncreen is CRAP! I swear, it must have attracted the sun or something. I couldn't even bend for the first 2 days. So ya this has been a shitty week.
Well okay, not completely shitty. I had a tournament in Guelph on Sunday, in which I pitched 2 out of the 3 games. It's nice being the first-stringer again. I pitched the best I ever have and I think it's cause my dad told me that morning that after I turn 20, I can't pitch in select anymore. It's a stupid rule, but I think that gave me incentive to go out with a bang. Sooo I got 13 strike-outs in our 1st game! Let's do the math - we played 6 innings, times 3 outs an inning...so I got 13 of the 18 outs just by pitching. We lost by a point, though. That's kinda what fucked our day up actually cause it was a shady call and the girl should have been safe, which caused one of our players to yell out "that's fucking stupid! What a fucking ridiculous call!" which got her thrown out of the tournament....which left us with just 8 players. We found out later that the ump doesn't have the right to throw her out of the entire tournament, but the convenor didn't seem to want to right the wrongs. Conveniently, Guelph made it to the finals. Funny how we usually do, but for some *strange* reason the convenor couldn't overrule the ump, which she is fully allowed to do. Whatever. We lost the next two games, but we couldn't have played much better. The last game was again a close one, 3-2, so I can't really complain considering the circumstances. So while we lost all 3 games, I still feel like it was a day of good baseball.

And funny enough, I saw a clip on TSN of this minor-league manager throwing a fit about a call. Now THAT should get you thrown out of a game - not swearing AFTER a game is finished. This is probably the funniest fit I've seen on the field:
