Collections…

It's a weird trait humans have, collecting things. People collect stamps, coins, bottle caps, comic books and all manner of other things. Anything that can be had, most likely will be collected by someone. Whatever you can think of is probably being collected by someone right this very moment ( Read more... )

When I was a kid, I collected model horses 'cause I was so horse-crazy.

Nowadays, I'm starting a collection of snowmen stuff for the holidays because I decided last year that snowmen are going to be my "thing." Like my mom is with all of her damn Santa stuff. :)

That's cool. Having a christmas collection of things makes sense, because you can really look forward to it and enjoy it while it's out and you would never get tired of it because you don't see it all the time. And snowmen are cool.

BTW, hope you're doing better today.

Anything specfic though? Say, do you collect Spiderman comics or maybe you have everything NIN ever did? That's more towards what I was fishing for...

yeah, i'm like that with everything... for instance, while i collected comics (which i don't anymore, though i have my old ones still) i snagged up just about everything neil gaiman wrote, i have all the old spideys from my youth, all the vertigo titles from teh first 2-3 years vertigo existed, etc...
i DO have everything nin (including imports and singles) up to about 96-97...then i just didn't have the energy to keep up with it.
I'm the same way with afghan whigs stuff and it drives my wife nuts.
i have every ticket stub to every concert i've ever been to...a number of them signed.
etc.
etc.
etc.

luckily, i go through phases of obsession. the current one is star wars stuff and horror books.
(the only constant is hot chicks... ;)

We used to be total pack rats. We collected everything. This past summer we rented a dumpster and threw it all away. Everything we hadn't looked at or thought about for the past 3 months. Gone. It was very liberating.

That's pretty much what we did last weekend. We have a 3rd bedroom that was packed from floor to ceiling with junk. We threw everything in the entire room out if it served no immediate purpose or didn't go in the yard-sale pile. And you're right, it is very liberating.

Beside Buffy stuff right? The only other thing I collect is Native American art, especially beadwork. I have quite a collection of both American and Canadian Native pieces, particularly mocassins. Why? Well if you ask my sister the Queen of the psychics she says it's because I was Native American in a past life. My explanation is that I have no explanation other than the pieces speak to me and they have been doing that from very early on. I also have a collection of powwow music tapes and cds and like to go to powwows. Mind you, I'm the biggest WASP in the world.
