Just finished my field exams for my historical list.
Two essays, 16 pages, four hours. I discussed thirty authors. I described essays, poems, plays and novels + a preface. 2.5 cigarettes.
And I argued that women want to wear pants to show off their legs.
And I argued that you shouldn't learn to ride a bike by rolling down a steep hill.
And I explained that we can see a boundless sky even while we're digging a tunnel. I almost attributed that last bit to Samuel Johnson or Edmund Burke.
Tomorrow, visual culture and eighteenth century aesthetics. What the hell is that gonna be like?
