Woah...so this weekend turned out to be much bigger than it should have - resulting in my mum yelling at me for being sick (still) and not looking after myself (turns out I have pleurisy again, but in both luings this time!)
Friday night was our Residence Dinner - Bollywood themed - I swear, a sari is probably the most complicated garment one could ever wear. It kept coming undone so I'd inadvertantly flash people when I was walking around! Oops. Bollywood dancing is fun though, very physical. I couldn't drink due to antibiotics (although it probably would have had fantastic results haha) so I was probably the only sober person there in the end. Dammit! Then after that Jess and I got changed and went to Side Bar, which is sort of an underground nightclub/bar thing. Very sleazy, haha. I have never had someone try to dirty-dance me so unsubtlely but it was all a bit of fun.
Anyway, yesterday was meant to be relatively quiet, and then my big brother and his girlfriend came around to drop off their bags before going to V Fest, which I had been dying to go to but didn't get around to buying a ticket, and Jess said there would probably be tickets available at the door! So considering I haven't seen my bro in a long time and I haven't been to one of these things before I decided to go and see if I could get in - got a $120 ticket as opposed to $140, thankyou Mr Ticket Scalper Man.
(Sorry again Robbie - it was a spur of the moment thing :( )
Pretty much amazing lineup: Modest Mouse, Hot Hot Heat (which I missed, bit devastated about that), Duran Duran (haha, so retro!!), Queens of the Stone Age, Presets, etc...but the best were definitely Air and the Smashing Pumpkins. It was the first concert Air had ever played in Aus which is just a little bit exciting, and they were so beautiful and ambient. I always used to think there was a female vocalist in the group but there isn;t - the wonders of voice synthesisers! And then the Pumpkins absolutely blew me away. I had no idea Billy Corgan was so tall - he is like a God! And he was wearing this metallic silver floor-length multi layered skirt! Acoustic version of 1979 = gorgeous. They didn't play Ava Adore though. Maybe next time...
