Okaaaay…
So... Heath Ledger is dead….?!
I'm in total shock! I think my jaw actually hit the desk when I found out. It's sort of like the Steve Irwin situation all over again, but even more shocking because he was so young and seemed so real... I guess that's because he had more impact on my life than Steve Irwin did, through his movies and so on, and was closer to my age. I just can't get it into my head that he isn't alive anymore. It would be much less of a shock if it were Britney or Amy Winehouse because of the way their trainwreck lives are being documented in the media at the moment - so I guess when it's someone who isn't being thrust in your face through the news everyday it seems to come out of nowhere.
Anyway it's so sad, and I feel terrible for his family and ex-wife and especially his little girl :(
Just one more thing - last night I went to the pub with my Dad last night to see The Basics (and I met Gotye! Woohoo!), and was quite disturbed that so many people there gave me one of those looks which clearly indicated that they believed me to be his younger lover or mistress or something. The fact that this idea is even conceiveable these days is bad enough; that people can see a middle-aged man and a young girl and immediately make those kinds of assumptions! Scary. Maybe I need to find a T-shirt that says "He's my father, you sickos!"
