Part two in my recs list of doom theme! Please remember, peoples, if you like any of the fics then I'm sure the authors would love it if you'd drop them some feedback! And hey, if you just want to talk about any of the recs, I wouldn't mind having a conversation either!
Anyhow, as promised, the theme for this part is:
Lesser seen (or/and written about) characters.
Quite Contrary by
mellishFeatured character: Wedy, in all her kleptomaniacal glory!
Wedy has it all: skills, beauty and riches. She also has secrets, and obligations. But life's exciting, and life's good, so she really can't complain... Cool little character study here, as well as some background on how she met L.
Death Row by
Leesy MetalliumFeatured character: Lind L Tailor
Lind L Tailor was given a choice in what he did, even if it wasn't much of one. Nice little piece on a very briefly appearing character.
Zone of Intervention by
Sarapsys Featured character: Hal Lidner
Lidner knows what she's good at. She wishes others would get the hint. A combination of good characterisation and the answering of a question many people wondered about :-).
Bedtime Stories by
darklunaFeatured character: Anthony Rester
Just who is Rester outside of the SPK's work? I admit it's something I hadn't really thought about; but this is a really intriguing answer.
Hindsight by
Elizabeth CulmerFeatured character: Sachiko Yagami
Poor, loyal Sachiko. We never really see what she thinks of any of the events of the story, never mind what she thinks about Kira. Or even about Light... A thoughtful little piece here.
No Ordinary Con Man by
Miss Bright Featured character: Aiber
Aiber's not just any old crook. He has his own morals, and his own loyalties, surprising as that may be. I like this Aiber, he's smart and unapologetic about who he is.
An American Family by
WallofIllusion Featured characters: an unremarkable American family
Now here's a viewpoint you really don't see that often. This story is about Kira, as seen by the members of an average American family. Well written and it'll make you think, in a good way.
Next time: The many faces of Matt!
