Blinky: You remember how a year ago I lost my Palm IIIc's stylus, and I was all bummed out because it was a special stylus that fit securely in the Palm, and you were nice enough to lend me an extra stylus you had lying around?

Emma: If by "a year ago" you mean "three years ago", then yes. And if by "lend" you mean "to give something with the understanding that it will be returned", I gave up on that particular definition somewhere in year 2.

Blinky: Yes, well...

Emma: And if by "nice" you meant that I didn't mention your obvious embarrassment at having to carry around a "girly" purple stylus instead of the "manly" black and silver job that you so carelessly misplaced, then, yes.

Blinky: Right, well I...

Emma: And if by...

Blinky: OK! I get it!

Emma: I'm sorry. What were you saying?

Blinky: And I never said I was embarrassed. I'm quite comfortable with my...

Emma: Of course not. My mistake. What about it?

Blinky: I finally found my old stylus!

Eemma: Really. Where was it?

Blinky: In a drawer by my computer desk! Right next to where I keep my Palm IIIc. Can you believe it?

Emma: Words fail me.

Blinky: I know! Me too! So I'd like to thank you and return it to you forthwith!
