#1 rule of ball: win. or die trying

days like today remind me of why i moved here. although i got off the train downtown at approximately 7:35am, it was damn gorgeous out. im so happy its warm again.

after work, jason and i hit up the white sox/yankees game at cellular. kinda slow at times, but the yankees stepped it up with a grand slam, followed by a 3-run homer in the last three innings. although i have no real love for either team, i decided to root for the yankees because, well, i really dont like the white sox. also the guy sitting next to me was originally from nyc and he was one solid dude who knew his baseball. he was with 3 korean ladies who he worked with and it was obviously their first baseball game in the states. he did a great job explaining the game, as well as informed me that the weird "pinwheel" things (i think they look like kazoos), as well as home plate are from the old park. pretty cool.

the thing that made my day/night complete was the ride home. the red line at night never fails to amuse me, but i think this one tops them all. we cut out a bit early from the game (along with masses of unhappy sox fans), so all of the cars were packed. one man and lady, who were completely inebriated, disregarded everyone around them and proceeded to have a full-out argument in the middle of the car. apparently she asked him to the game and left her seat around the fourth inning to meet up with another man and possibly even smoke weed. there were also shots involved, but im not too sure where. anywhoo, he was not a happy camper and she said he was "stupid." while amusing, it was also quite obnoxious with f-bombs flying out the wazoo. a vetran-looking older man who the lady continuously fell over on due to her intoxication started singing "god bless america" (because honestly, this car was nuts) and the whole half of our car joined in. this shut the arguing couple up and also elated the old man that he got such a positive response from quite the diverse crowd.

i love chicago.
