*3. September*

"Guys, you should be thankful that it's only me and not any of the teachers!" DongHae stated when he entered his room.

SiWon and HeeChul turned around in shock and backed away from each other. "Oh God, Hae...," SiWon breathed out. He was indeed relieved it was only their friend and not someone else.

HeeChul eventually smiled after he had gotten over the shock. "Hae, don't shock us like that," he said, laughing a little.

DongHae chuckled when he saw SiWon agreeing immediately.

HeeChul sat further back on his bed to bring some space between him and SiWon. They had just been playing cards. Nothing extraordinary actually. Still, it was looked upon with disgust to be physically close to other students. It would probably be punished.

HeeChul was still smiling when he looked at SiWon. It hadn't taken long for them to get close to each other and now, they were already the best of friends. Nothing could seperate them. They were always together. And even though, HeeChul knew that SiWon liked skinship, they couldn't risk their usual life for that. It wasn't that they were in love with each other anyway, so no need to touch the other one.

DongHae went to his own bed, put his bag down and came to sit with his roommates on HeeChul's bed.

SiWon shifted a little bit closer to HeeChul to make room for their friend and HeeChul smiled. Even though the beginning had been difficult, HeeChul wouldn't have missed this. He had never felt that happy. He had never felt that loved.

The rules of their boarding school were strict and it was sometimes hard to keep them, but HeeChul was doing okay. He didn't even realize how cruel and aweful this was. He hadn't thought porperly about anything else than his friends yet.

"Let's play again. This time, I join in," DongHae suggested and the other two agreed.

HeeChul gave the cards to SiWon to prepare the game. Their hands brushed and HeeChul realized SiWon's hands were warm. He wanted to touch them. To take them in his own.

He looked up just to see SiWon staring at him with raised eyebrows.

HeeChul started to laugh. He couldn't help it, but SiWon's expression was priceless.

And just when HeeChul had started to laugh, SiWon realized it wasn't actually bad, and so laughed along with his best friend.

DongHae frowned. He had been watching his friends, but couldn't understand what was so funny.

"Aish, just give it to me," he muttered. When neither SiWon nor HeeChul were able to do anything else than laughing. He took the cards.

"Your face! SiWon, you should have seen it! Awesome!" HeeChul exclaimed, still laughing.

"Oh, shut up! Have you seen yours? Your look, how you stared at me. That was funny!" SiWon replied. Laughter filled the room.

DongHae only rolled his eyes when he gave six cards to each of them.

"Don't lie! You were funnier!" HeeChul said back. Slowly, they started to calm down. Their laughters died.

"And just because our hands touched?" SiWon asked with a chuckle.

"Pff, that's ridiculous!" HeeChul stated.

"I know!" SiWon grinned, trying to stay calm, but while his eyes were locked to HeeChul's, he knew that his friend thought the same and they started to laugh all over again.

"Oh God, what's wrong with you two today?" DongHae asked, shaking his head in disbelief. "I'm leaving if you continue like that," he announced and stood up.

HeeChul and SiWon immediately quit laughing and stared at him.

DongHae glared back, shaking his head once again and threw the cards at his roommates in anger.

HeeChul watched him leave. He was stunned, because he honestly hadn't expected this. "Do you think, he's really angry?" he finally asked carefully.

SiWon shrugged. "I hope not."

"Hm, me, too," HeeChul said. They pushed the cards away and lay down next to each other on the bed.

SiWon smiled.

"Hyung, you're my best friend. You know that, right?" he asked and HeeChul smiled to himself, happy about SiWon's confession, even though he did know about it already anyway. "Yep."

"So I am your best friend as well?" SiWon asked again and HeeChul chuckled but nodded. He reached out for SiWon's hand. Their fingers intertwined immediately. It felt naturally. Still, it was the first time, they were holding each other's hand. They had barely even touched each other because it wasn't allowed.

HeeChul was nervous. What if SiWon pulled away now? He might not want it. Maybe it was too risky.

HeeChul didn't want to think about the consequences of when they would get caught. It surely would be something bad, considering he had heard about a gay couple that had lived here three years ago.

HeeChul even remembered their names. They had been called KangIn and LeeTeuk. They had loved each other. They had been in love. But they had been seperated when a teacher had seen them together. Quickly, the whole school had known about it. Everyone had been talking about the incident when KangIn had been holding LeeTeuk's hand. That was how a teacher had found them. KangIn was still in this school, but as far as HeeChul knew, LeeTeuk had been banned. He suddenly wondered if the couple still talked to each other. Someone had told him that they had broken up after that.

HeeChul thought it was sad. He wasn't gay. He wasn't in love, but it was sad nonetheless.

"SiWon?" he suddenly asked.

"Yes?" SiWon looked sideways to see HeeChul's eyes. He smiled, waiting for his friend to continue and tell him his thoughts.

"About the KangTeuk couple...are they still seeing each other?" HeeChul asked in curiosity.

SiWon was surprised, and even though it wasn't common to talk about this incident and these two as a couple anymore, he didn't mind at all. "I just know they broke up after one of them was kicked out of school."

HeeChul sighed. "I know that already."

"Sorry that I don't know more," SiWon apologized. "But why do you want to know?" he asked his best friend.

HeeChul hesitated. It wasn't that he was afraid to talk about it. Quite the opposite. But it felt weird. "Just curious," he murmured quietly.

SiWon nodded.
