Before EunHyuk or DongHae could even react, the king was already rushing into the room.
"EunHyuk, what are you doing there?" he asked angrily and DongHae quickly let go of the prince.
The king glared at them. It was obvious that he was more than furious and it scared them.
"LEE DONGHAE! Out! NOW! Take him to the dungeon!" the king ordered and so, the slave was shoved out of the room without anything to wear.
EunHyuk had tears in his eyes. He knew what would happen now. "Father...," he sobbed desperately.
The king didn't say anything and just left the room, followed by all the other people that had come in, before the door was locked.
By now, EunHyuk's tears were running down his cheeks freely. It all had happened too fast.
"Hae...," he sobbed silently, over and over again.
EunHyuk didn't know how he managed to survive the next few days. He spent the whole time in his room. Of course, a maid brought him some food from time to time, but he was too worried for DongHae to even eat much.
YeSung didn't come to visit. EunHyuk knew he was informed about the incident.
Eventually, at the fifth day, his door was opened and soldiers came in.
Without even being able to fight back, the prince was dragged away.
"Hey! YAH! Where are we going?" he asked in confusion but he didn't get any response. EunHyuk screamed in anger but one of the soldiers put some kind of fabric in his mouth, so that he couldn't say anything anymore. He felt like a slave without any freedom.
He was taken to the courtyard. There were already a few people including his parents. They seemed to wait while they were sitting in front of something he couldn't see.
EunHyuk didn't even realize that the fabric was taken out of his mouth and that he was shoved to a seat next to his mother because he was too shocked with what he was seeing now.
"NO!" he gasped, his eyes were wide.
In that moment, DongHae was dragged in by two soldiers. He was even thinner than before and EunHyuk was sure he hadn't gotten much to eat, if anything at all.
The slave looked up and their eyes met. EunHyuk was still too shocked to do anything other than stare while DongHae didn't show any emotion at all. He was led to stand in front of them. His hands were tied together and a chain was around his feet to prevent him from running away.
A rope was tied around his neck.
"No! NO! Please, father, mother, no!" EunHyuk shouted desperately and tried to stand up but he was held down by some soldiers.
DongHae only smiled weakly. We lost, were the words he didn't say out loud but his eyes told them.
EunHyuk didn't even feel the tears running down his cheeks, neither felt he his heart racing that fast. He was numb.
The king grinned smugly at EunHyuk and gave a sign. The rope tightened around DongHae's neck and his feet lost the ground when he was pulled up by the rope.
DongHae gasped and started to pant as the seconds passed by and it was too hard to breathe anymore.
EunHyuk cried even more. He begged to his father to let him go, but he didn't listen.
EunHyuk struggled to get free and stand up, to help DongHae, but he couldn't.
The prince was shocked. The image of DongHae's lifeless body with the rope around his neck was in his mind, every second of the day.
His body was numb. He barely realized how he was brought back to his own room. Eventually, his tears stopped but he didn't perceive anything.
He didn't know what he did the next days. He couldn't remember anymore.
YeSung had come back and tried to talk to him. He obviously had forgiven EunHyuk but the other didn't talk anymore.
He lived by his own, imagining DongHae's death over and over again. It made him insane.
Many people came to talk to him but EunHyuk refused.
One day, he finally came out of his room and went to his parents, asking if he could take a walk by himself.
His parents were so happy that he talked once again and immediately allowed it.
So EunHyuk went out. He walked to the ocean. It wasn't that far away but because there was a high cliff, he actually wasn't allowed to go there. He couldn't care less right now, so why not going there, he thought.
The waves were big and tossed against the cliff. The wind was blowing hard.
EunHyuk came closer to look down into the sea.
It seemed as if the ocean was angry and restless. just like him. And it made the temptation of killing himself so much sweeter.
He inhaled deeply, thinking of nothing and everything at the same time.
He closed his eyes for a short moment, unsure of what to do.
"I'm not unsure," he murmured silently to himself and opened his eyes once again.
"Hae...," he whispered quietly and tears starting running down his cheek once again. But he didn't care.
He took a step closer to the cliff.
"Hae, I love you," he whispered.
"I'm sorry," EunHyuk murmured. This was for everyone he had disappointed. It wasn't just for his parents and YeSung but the most for DongHae because EunHyuk blamed himself for what had happened. They should have ended it before. If they had done it, DongHae would be still alive.
"So sorry...," the prince mumbled and took the last step forward.
Sharp rocks were smiling at him.
He fell. He fell and that was it. No return. There was nothing stopping him anymore.
Now, finally, there was nothing between him and DongHae anymore. Now, they could be together. Forever.
