JAWS question

Jul 24, 2012 21:50

Good evening , Jaws users!
I am wondering if any of you JAWS users are having trouble with Jaws and Nortan Anti Virus. I can not get jaws to read it for anything. I could uesed to read it with the jaws cursur, but now can't even do that!

Suggestions anyone?
Ashley

Hi. I don't use Norton for antivirus so I haven't experienced this, but it very well could be the program and poor design and not directly have anything to do with Jaws. You could try a reboot, or an unload and restart of Jaws to see if that helps. Also make sure nothing's blocking the focus like another window somewhere from another app running and causing it not to read properly. If you have nothing else running, it's very possible that if routing jaws to PC cursor doesn't work, then it's not Jaws itself. You could of course always see if it reads in NVDA just for kicks because it's free just as a test. Sometimes that screen reader does better with inaccessible programs that don't read properly in Jaws.
Good luck!

Most of the anit virus program do not speak when you open them and Norton is one of the worst and MacAffie and Trend Micro are just as bad.

Hickory, thanks for letting me know that because Megafy was one of the ones I was looking at transfering to.

Hi, I've tried all of your suggestions, and I think that the program is no longer eccessable with JAWS.

I used to be able to get around with the Jaws cursur, but that's no longer working.

I'm glad that my contract with Nortan is about up.

Try Microsoft Security Essentials. It integrates into Windows closely enough that it should work well, and it's free.
