So I have an APC Bak-UPS RS-1500 with extra battery, that powers my server and hard drive for access to my music and other media, in the event of a power outage; that runs for around 3.5-4 hours or so. Now since I have FIOS, I need something to do the same with the ONT, since its backup battery will only power the POTS jacks, and turns everything else off after 5 minutes. For that, I ordered
this UPS to do just that. It seems I was a little excessive though, since based on the research I did on the type of battery that is in that unit, it is rated for 7.5 Amp-hours at 12 volts. 7*12=84 Watt-hours, divided by 12 watts (what the ONT draws), and I get 7 hours. Ah well, more power is better than less imo. Hopefully it actually gets here this week, so that I can get it plugged in sooner rather than later.
