Update on the Con
So I've been meaning to post an update of the info concerning DragonCon. Here's what we've done so far:
-The hotel ended up being more expensive than I initially wanted. We only got the Con rate for 2 nights (@ 175.00/night). Fri and Sat nights are at a slightly reduced rate of 299.00/night, compared to the normal 389.00. This is how the total came to be higher. In addition, it is ONE KING BED only...so we therefore will have to work out sleeping issues. But in either case we DO have a room at the Hilton, so we have the walkway. We think we can make it work, though (Megan says she has a air mattress that isn't the size of Texas=).
The total with tax came to 1023.84.
HOWEVER, we have a lovely addition to our group! Katie has decided that, since the wedding visit in Dallas is off (b/c Sam can't make up her mind...), the she'd love to accompany us to DragonCon! She has also very kindly offered to pay her portion of the hotel as well! SO...instead of dividing that beastly hotel room by 5, we'll be doing it by 6 instead. SO:
1023.84/6 = 170.64 each.
Which naturally brings the trip cost down. I've elected to NOT include food costs from here on out (1. cause it makes it sound so expensive and 2. I could very well be wrong about that cost, seeing as we are now going 1 day less than otherwise predicted on the food.) SO now here's the new formula:
**Note: Parking and Gas costs will remain the same, due to Katie's limited financial contribution. We should be thankful that she's taking the hotel at all, much less everything else: we love you Katie!**
Hotel (Thur/Mon Nights): 170.64
Gas(@ 2.00/gal): 24.00
Parking: 24.00
Con Ticket: 70.00
Total: 288.64(!)
With the food it'll probably be right under 400, but that's a flexible option that we can handle later. Just REMEMBER that we must consider food=).
I'm sure everyone agrees that this'll be a much happier number to pay than the 417.00-ish.
As a final mention, the Con Ticket Rates go UP on February 13th! SO we must get that in ASAP! Everyone in Lafayette must pay Danielle (she's in charge of that part there) while Megan and I will pay Cat. Give them enough time to potentially mail it if necessary...so by next week.
