Here's the deal; we've been traipsing round Paris for a week with our heads all spinning with jazz and bootleg liquor. It's a heady combination, and we're going head on to meet it head to head. So what we're proposing is a Baccano! cosplay group, and hopefully a masquerade skit based on
the opening. And we want as many of you fine guys and dolls to get in on it as possible!
I gotta point out that it ain’t like we're gonna make it fit exactly. For one thing we probably won’t get all the characters that get named in the OP - though any of you dames want to take a crack at Szilard the Lizard King you’ll earn my undying respect. So what I’ve got for ya here is a list of the usual suspects, the ones in the OP that is, and a few of the guys who prefer to keep things a little more underground. Just because they’re secondary characters don’t mean they ain’t got their own charms and merits and all that jazz. I've linked their names to pictures so you can get a look at them all, see if anyone catches your eye.
And none of these is set in concrete (except Dallas but, heh, that’s another story). You got yer types like Miri and Meli who basically embody Isaac and Miria and the only way they won’t be playing them would be if they get hit by a car. Then ya got yer indecisive types, best exemplified by Marthur. Then ya got yer people who ain’t even seen the show, we just decided they’d be good for certain roles and stuck their name on here - just a suggestion though, buddy, no pressure or nothing. Except for the bit where we sever your fingers if ya say no. With our teeth.
Guess my point is just go for it, put yerself down for as many characters as ya like even if there’s a name there already, we can cut it down later. Or leave a comment and we'll all think of some characters that'd fit your own personal, er, idiom.

Of course any of you guys and dolls wanting to join us in our little ruckus are advised to watch the anime. It’s a mere 16 short, sweet episodes long, and can be found on youtube here:
http://www.youtube.com/show/baccano?pl=BADA6F2F30743D35. Funi’s subs aren't bad at all, although a few lines are tamed down, or if you prefer downloading I’d recommend Ayu’s.
Just a heads up: it ain’t for those who come over all queasy at the sight of a little claret being splashed about. It ain’t called the Kill Bill of anime for nothing, it got that rep from unapologetically packing as much headshots, decapitations and mutilation into twenty-three minutes as it can without bursting. Having said that it’s also manages to be ridiculously feelgood so don’t let it put you off.
One more thing I should probably mention is the non-linear timeline. The first episode is really set after the last, and it shows the endings to all the main plot lines, which there’s three of. You can keep track of them because they roughly correlate to the years 1930, 1931 and 1932 respectively, although they all muddle up and crossover, and even events within one year won’t be portrayed in linear order - one scene might focus on stuff going on in a particular time, next scene might be months or hours before or after, or might even be concurrent. It’s worth a bit of mental gymnastics to watch it all unravel.
We hope you'll join us on board!
