yesturday a lot of my friends and i went to dinner and then to the old port. before i start ranting and raving let me say that i enjoyed the day and the company. i vote we go again next year but make sure to only get there around 9 or so because the ghost walk was not only really annoying in terms of keeping up visually but really boring. the fireworks were unbelievable though! i am very annoyed that my camera died. i hope julie will et me coppy her pictures.
anyways i'm getting ahead of myself. we ended up meeting at 5/5:30 for dinner. we eneded up going to the food court in alexia nion which was both cheap and convininet. On our way out this random stranger gives my friend a napkin that ended up having a $100 bill in it saying something like " i like the work you do." at this point i should mention that she was only one of two without a dog and or a cane... but still!! arg it is beyond frustrating to me that he thought that she was a volunteer! is it not plausable that we were just friends??
i was frustrated but eventually forgot about it. about 15 minutes after we got to the old port, while 2 of my friends were feeling some sort of display another stranger came up to me and asked me how touching things could make us see properly, said it was nice that we were still able to "get out" dispite our impairement... and, my favorate: "can i take your picture?"
WHAT THE?????? I'M BLIND NOT SOME SORT OF SPECTACLE! YES I HAVE A CAIN... SO WHAT????
nothing eventful happened untill around 11 when this guy asked us "how much does being an invalid get you?"
screams in frustration... i know its possible that i might be misinterperting one or two... but... to have 3 instances like this in one day is just sooooooooooo frustrating! perhaps i'm making a big deal out of mthing... i dunno... but its just really frustrating and really sad that pople think so little of people with disabilities!
