Try this - make two accounts. One US, one CAD

Your iTunes store should be able to change countries. Since you are operating in Canadian money, yours is probably set to Canada. Sign out of that Canadian account, create a new US account (with a different e-mail address, unfortunately), and add the money that way

I have to fluctuate between the currencies a lot and it drives me bonkers, but it is possible. I use my McGill e-mail address for the Canadian account and my personal e-mail for the American account - same passwords for less of a hassle

If it doesn't work, let me know and I can give you more detailed instructions

I forgot to say the most obvious part - you have to switch your iTunes store into the United States mode to create the new US account. Did they teach you crazy Canadians what the American flag looks like in school? :)

Would this (perhaps) not require a U.S. mailing address, though?

You have a card with a prepaid balance in American currency? If so, you can do one of two things. You can either e-mail me the code and I will set up an account for you myself. Or you can go to "Quick Links" in the US store on the upper right hand of your screen. In this little section, there will be something that says "iTunes Music Cards." You should have a 16-digit code to enter. I cannot give you specific instructions beyond that point because I do not have a code - thus, I am not sure if an address is required or not. Try your code there in the US store and let me know what happens or e-mail me and I shall try to defeat this silly system!

thats what i originally did. they told me that it didn't match the country i was in becaue it was a us card. it said i couldn't use it. i'll try converting the store to the american one again... but either way thanks for the offer! and for the help!

If you send me the card number via e-mail (natasharyan at gmail dot com), as well as the e-mail address that you would like to use to sign into your US account, I will set one up for you

I know that I am able to do it because I have used a US iTunes card in Canada. If an address and such is required, I will just use mine in the States. Sound good?
