Well, this makes me feel better, at least.

English Genius
You scored 92% Beginner, 92% Intermediate, 100% Advanced, and 100% Expert!

You did so extremely well, even I can't find a word to describe your excellence! You have the uncommon intelligence necessary to understand things that most people don't. You have an extensive vocabulary, and you're not afraid to use it properly! Way to go!

Thank you so much for taking my test. I hope you enjoyed it!

So apparently, despite having a measly yearly income (i.e., less than $5000) and getting my FAFSA in before the so-called "priority deadline", I'm ineligible for the work-study I got offered by the history department, because I'm still a dependent of my parents (who apparently make enough according to them to support my college lifestyle - news to me) and I didn't get it in "early" enough.

What a lovely system this is, in which we are expected - nay, encouraged - to make mommy and daddy pay for everything we do because having financial responsibility and taking college-level classes is, like, too hard to do all at once.

And if they want my FAFSA so damned early, they should either tell me so, or not ask for my fucking tax info before I even get my W2 forms.

I always thought that growing up and supporting oneself was something that you aspired to, and tried to accomplish with a sense of responsibility and, perhaps, in a way that wouldn't doom you to failure. But apparently, since I still sleep at my parents' house, the government thinks that they should be forced to fork over cash so that I can get my education, rather than keep their hard-earned money and let me make my own. Because my crappy retail job doesn't pay well enough to let me live on my own, attend school full-time, and leave me enough time to maintain my GPA (and thus my scholarships) and/or sleep, instead of giving me an opportunity to add to my income, and possibly save enough to move out, I guess I just have to hit up the old Bank of Mommy and Daddy whenever tuition makes its inevitable climb. It's the American way, obviously.

So, yeah. Other than the current lack of free time, ever-empty gas tank, interpersonal crap that I could write a book about, huge credit card bill, and a growing frustration with the world around me, things are going well. I have three days off coming up (thank God); I really like my classes so far; one because the teacher's great, the other because it's going to be so freaking easy. And Arabic should be grand, since my buddy DJ's in it.

Until then, time to go play some more on my WoW free trial before it expires later tonight. If you guys ever get together before, say, midnight, let me know; though I'd love to hang out after dark, it's usually just not an option if I don't want to walk around with a coffee IV the rest of the day. Glad to hear that everyone's classes are going well. To those whose stuff isn't going well, I deliver a patented, super-potent Beth Hug, guaranteed to put a warm, fuzzy Band-Aid atop those troubles of yours.

And no, the fuzzy part isn't my boobies. That's the warm part.
