finished Gale Force, the new Weather Warden novel.

hard to say what i think of the latest villain insert, since this book ended on a cliffhanger rather than address the Big Bad at the end, but Jo and gang remain fun to read about. WW isn’t really a series that stands on its deep plot, anyway--it’s more about the action and shit. which is okay, for once. i like the characters and their interactions, and the dynamic between Djinn, Warden, and… non-Warden. THOUGH LET’S BE HONEST. Cherise is practically an honorary Warden by this point. there’s not much to love about her… but you just wind up loving her all the same.

i’ve always liked Kevin, and having this book imply for than once that his mother forced Djinn to rape him… i haven’t read many attempts at the ‘i was sexually and mentally abused as a child and now i’m seriously messed up’ character and actually have it pulled off well, but WW is the exception. none of it comes on too strong or is dealt with unrealistically, and Kevin’s few scenes were just so… aslkdfj;dfj. V___V you just WANT to give him a hug. ALL THE TIME.

EVEN JO ADMITS TO IT A LOT.

he’s probably going to be on the Warden strike team next time, no doubt, so here’s hoping he doesn’t die.

also, part of the reason why i like the Djinn so much is how Rachel Caine portrays them, and yeah. Ashan fan here. he can crash my wedding any time. K the motto of WW is totally SCREW A DJINN, WIN A PRIZE, so am wondering what lucky human will bag Ashan, huh, huh. he’s got the mad skills like David. (and hey, already carrying a torch for Jo. it’s there, Ashan, do not deny. THOUGH I WOULDN’T BE SURPRISED IF HE WENT FOR IMARA IN LIEU.)

it could happen. Imara’d top.

am avoiding life again, so perhaps i’ll start reading something else right away. IDK. don’t feel like doing much of anything.

books, blah random
