I'm a reporter at a regional tabloid newspaper

... which is surreal. And brilliant.
Today I found out the name of a suicide.
Phoned the ambulance service, did a social media shout out.
Someone must know. And someone did!
I found it! I found out her name.

The deputy editor came over to congratulate me.
Look at that. Have I made it?
Six month probation, resting on a driver's license.
Seems to be the only thing between me and a permanent contract.
Or at least two years of. Being home. Writing.
Your local reporter.

I write in shorthand and phone people.
Email. Take photographs nearly every day.
Okay, they may not be composed in a very excellent way.
But still, they publish them don't they.
Job done.

Job done.
