After 6 or so years of faithful service, my laptop aka Lappy is on its last leg. It is also infected with gangrene and gout. So it saddens me to see it go. I could attempt to resurrect it with a new battery and a new AC adapter but somehow I think even that can't fix its other failing hardware. The battery died last year right out. Not a gradual loss in battery life, no, just out and died in one fell swoop. The AC adapter is now starting to give me issues as well, dying if it is even jiggled in the slightest. That on top of a dying motherboard and a messed up touch pad Lappy is not in the best of health. I told you that story to tell you this one:
I'm thinking about getting a black Macbook.
I'll hold on for a minute so you can all catch your breath and collect yourself from the floor.
The die hard mac hater is going to convert? Both yes and no. My sister got one as a high school grad gift and so I got to toy around with it for a bit just too see how apple approached notebooks. I definitely like the layout and the keyboard layout. Nothing special or over the top. I know Victoria is an over-the-top desktop but for a notebook I'd prefer something a bit more...portable? The integrated iSight was pretty neat too.
But this does not mean I will fully convert, no no. See there is this neat icon called parallel desktop. This will allow me to run windows off of the Macbook. So really it's a half-a. But that is what makes it viable, because I don't know all of Mac's hidden Steve Jobs secrets. So all of you that saw me watching the guided tour of Leopard, now you know.
If I go ahead with this venture that will set me back $1650. The extra 150 is for more RAM. 1 Gig is a bit too slow for me. Better start scraping cash now, because with our short ass 3 week winter...not even a break, it will take me all winter and some summer to accumulate such funds. Looks Like I won't be getting nice things for a while, oh well.
Edit: After doing a bit more research I think I may go for a simpler Macbook to save me some cash. The extra $500 I'd shell out for a bigger HD, .2 Ghz faster processor and color is not worth it.
So now I must Quest for $1134 Sorry nice things.
