Seeing as I'm not writing in any sort of order for runaway_tales, it seems wise to sum-up the story here so that it's... not just a random muddle! Essentially, the story is focussed around Lucille and Amadeo. Lucille is a 19 year old French girl from a very well to do family. Amadeo is an African ex-pirate who captains The Valiant, a slightly non-traditional (and frequently illegal) merchant vessel. They met in Lucille's home town of La Rochelle when Lucille was 16. They fell in love a few months later, and conducted a secret courtship for three years. When Lucille is 19, her sister Gisette discovers their relationship and reveals it to their parents. Horrified about the scandal, Lucille's father decides to take the family to Italy, hopeful that Lucille's reputation will be slow in following them, and that she might still marry and be off his hands. Amadeo, arriving at La Rochelle to find the family departed, immediately follows them and rescues Lucille, taking her away from her family. They travel to Ireland to stay with a friend of Amadeo's, and from there to adventures unknown.
