free nights out FTW
Yesterday was interesting.
I was in full formal-wear by midday when Anton picked me up. We had some foods at his house and then drove over to Matt's for band their band practice. Matt and the rest of the band didn't turn up for about an hour though, so we just hung around his room. Then when they did arrive there was MUCH COMMOTION because there wasn't a microphone anywhere for Tammy. Then as soon as that got sorted out (after a lot of running about and calls to friends) the PA system broke. More running about.
The actual night was really fun though, as was hanging about with the band beforehand. Yay, friends who are just plain easy. People I don't have to babysit or constantly placate or whatever. And I really get on with Tammy and Matt (and Mike, as it turned out) so it was lovely to see them again. They've just got back together, I think we're going on a double-date at some point :P Lulz in the extreme.
The band was awesome, as I'd expected. They even did Mr Brightside justice, and that's an incredibly hard song for all concerned. I think when Anton and I finally get our acoustic set together to do some open mics we might be covering a Killers song. We both think Read My Mind would be lovely acoustic, though I think a lot from Sam's Town would.
The only low point of the evening was getting felt up by a pervy old man who insisted on dancing with me. I wouldn't have minded if I could have kept him at arms length but he kept pulling me close and touching up my arse, it was horrible. Antony was about ready to deck him. I spent the rest of the evening whilst I didn't have my young man to protect me hiding with the DJs where he couldn't get at me again :P To be honest I had more fun with them, it meant I could bop without having to actually dance which I cannot do.
The band had a free tab at the bar too, which they were kind enough to let me use as I was helping out a bit with the sound. I say 'helping out'; I gave feedback and moved stuff about and told Matt when Tammy's vocals were high enough. Might learn to do the basics properly so Matt doesn't have to keep running back and forth, at least that way I can earn my keep.
Didn't get to bed til about 4am. We actually got in a bit after two but we had foods because the food provided had been appalling, and then had a long chat about old days and new days and so on. And it was all good. I'm really happy right now :)
