Time for that promised update! Apologies for any typos or whatever I miss, I'm really quite poorly :(
Ok, so where to begin? Well, on Thursday morning first thing I had that Film presentation to give. Not really much to say about that heh, just that I think it went ok and I didn't make a complete idiot of myself so it was all good :P
After that I made my way into the centre of town to catch the Greyhound up to London. Amazingly, I was able to do it all in a very relaxed way, which makes a nice change. Journey was uneventful, apart from having to sit in Victoria Coach Station for two hours because the Greyhound got in early, but that wasn't too bad. Anton picked me up when I got to Leicester, and I don't remember a huge amount from Thursday night - I think I mostly just crashed!
Friday was a lot more eventful though. We went to see Dave Matthews Band in Birmingham at the O2 Academy, and neither of knew exactly where it was so we set off at 4pm (the doors opened at six). We took the sat nav, and were actually at the place it took us to by ten past five (well, almost. There was a lot of traffic in Brum and Anton's car was seriously threatening to overheat and we had to pull over for ten minutes) but the only problem was that the O2 academy wasn't where the address said it was... cue nearly an hour and a half driving around Birmingham trying to find the damn place and hoping the car didn't explode. A bit before half six I finally went "Screw it, we need help" and texted Naomi (who I happened to have found out a week previously was also going) to see if she knew where it was. Bless her heart she met us outside the bullring where we parked the car and walked us there, so we got there in time. Only about ten minutes before they started playing, but still in time :P
And oh. My. God. Dave Matthews Band are AMAZING live. There aren't words to describe how wonderful they are. And oh they did Satellite and Proudest Monkey and Crash Into Me and Big Eyed Fish and oh oh oh. And their violinist is possibly the most incredibly musician I've ever seen, I really can't explain how amazing he is unless you've seen him live. The violin solos were incredible, and he was the coolest guy. He's black and has gorgeous braids, and wore sunglasses all the way through and his name is Boyd. BOYD. Right after I've finished writing this I'm going to find out if he plays with anyone else because he's amazing.
There were a couple of annoyances, like the REALLY LOUD American girls who didn't seem to understand that you listen with your ears, not your mouth, and the fact that all the tall people seemed to want to stand in front of me, and standing up for that long in Primark shoes meant that the bobbles on the pavement on the way back to the car were killing my feet, but it all pales in comparison to the awesomeness of the band.
Then on Saturday there was surprise!puppies :D Apparently Yvonne had decided that she wanted to get a dog and had seen some Springer Spaniel pups for sale in the paper, so we all went off to Sileby to have a look. And they chose a pup on the spot, and brought her home on Sunday. She's so cute with her big ears. They've called her Millie and I think she's just starting to settle in now. She cried and cried on Sunday night, to the point that Anton went down to her at 1:30am just because she was getting so frantic. She settled down fairly quickly though, so she should be ok. I've never really known any puppies before, it's a bit strange heh. I think Anton's still getting used to having her around because he was so attached to their last dog, I don't think he really wanted a new one. I hope it'll all be ok.
Only low point of the weekend was really Saturday night, when I had a complete emotional breakdown. I'm the sort of person that will very rarely cry over one thing; I'm more like one of those fountains with the cups that fill up with water until they're full up and tip over to empty out then start filling up again (think House of Blue Leaves fight in Kill Bill, hah). I'm not sure exactly what it was that topped it off this time, but saturday night I ended up sobbing for half an hour. Bless Anton, he let me cry on him and then got me cake :P Felt better afterwards though.
I was meant to come back on Sunday, but there's been some bug that's been going round Anton's work and we both came down with it :( I sat in Leicester bus station for an hour or so waiting for the coach before I gave in and asked him to pick me up on the way back from the restaurant (he took his mum out for mother's day, which is also why I was at the station so early). The rest of Sunday involved lots of cuddles for both of us, and playing with the puppy. I finally came home yesterday, even though this is the last week of term and as it's happened I was too ill to go in today anyway. Oh well. He's coming down here again on Friday so we can go to a Solent open day on Saturday and then bring me and my stuff back for Easter on Sunday. At least I don't have too much to do this week :)
