I've come to the conclusion that online shopping is a little too convenient. I only intended to search for a new dresser for my bedroom and ended up purchasing a new bed with storage space built in. I misplaced the pen for my graphics tablet and only wished to buy a replacement pen and instead, I purchased a brand new tablet. While it is a much larger, newer model than the one I currently own, it was still an unnecessary purchase. I promised myself that I wouldn't spend any more money on things for this house except for groceries and bills.

My art is coming along quite nicely. I met a young man while taking a walk one evening and he has been kind enough to indulge me by allowing me the privilege of using him as a subject for my paintings. The first of these works is almost completed after which I plan to experiment with my new tablet. It has been my wish to hone my digital painting skills for some time, especially with my new job.

I've been busy settling into a new telecommuting position with a local advertising firm. My new employer seems very kind and astonishingly flexible about the odd hours I keep. I suspect that he is doing me a favor given my sparse resume and lack of local employment references. He seemed very appreciative of the fact that I am no stranger to disciplined hard work in my chosen field. It also seems that his daughter is an avid reader of my gardening blog. Earth is a very small world, after all.

[I suppose I should pay my respects to the council. I've lived here since May without contacting any of my kind aside from the neighbors and that was domestic rather than business. It sounds like it has undergone a change in leadership since I've been gone and I have to admit that I am curious about how we're faring in the war. I have no intention of fighting outside of self-defense and in defense of my property but it would be wise to increase awareness of any potential dangers to myself or my guests.]
