Dr. Doolittle Strikes Again

May 18, 2009 19:07

Madi, Nate, and Toby were all out in the yard today and something incredible happened. Madi was just standing there and a bird landed on her shoulder. It's a whitehead cockatiel, I looked it up. The kids took the bird around to see if it belonged to anyone in the neighborhood, but it doesn't. It loves Madi, though. It's been perched on her shoulder fr a couple of hours now, and she adores it. Right now, the kids are peeling potatoes for dinner, and the bird is just hanging out on Madi's shoulder, trying to pull her hair tie out. It also ate a part of her earring earlier, too. If she leaves the room, the bird makes a lot of noises, and according to Wikipedia, it has bonded with her if it does that.

We will post some pics later, but I have no clue what to do with this bird! Madi is lobbying to keep it, but Toby and I are thinking it's not a good plan. This has been a strange evening so far!

Edit to Add: Madi has named her Sarah.
