Day 1 ironicjournal November 28 2011, 08:20:49 UTC
[ He is not alone in trying to salvage a good weapon or clue on this fine apocalyptic day. The household not-Dad is doing some digging through the debris himself, and acknowledges Sin with a nod. ]

Good work on not dying, I guess.

[Whipping around to spot his fellow live housemate, Sin is decidedly more highstrung about the whole situation. ...As usual.]

What the hell happened here!? [He kicks over a large chunk of wooden paneling blocking his path.] One day I'm stuffing my face-- [And man did that drone mom cook a good meal, seriously]-- And now the whole place is leveled!?

Kid, you need to calm yo tits and remember that panicking just makes it look worse. And I mean we're basically looking at a good ol' fashioned apocalypse here, so you wanna do your part to keep that as non-blown out of proportion as you can.

Can't say much for specifics yet, though.

I'm not panicking!

[He's panicking.]

Apocalypse? You don't mean...... Like, a 'Merciless Apocalypse'? [Not that he'd had any idea what the hell that meant, but he'd heard the old man and the bird talking about it back then, and he knew it had to do with that weird Valentine chick, and that it was bad. Really bad.]

[But somehow this didn't seem quite right. Mostly due to the lack of creepy wrench-and-balloon-wielding chicks.]

Why the hell is this place always blowing up, anyway? [He coughs a little, waving dust away as he flings another few pieces of wreckage out of his way. He wasn't feeling so hot...]

[ He shrugs to the question about Mayfield's regular decisions to hand the population their own asses. It was just a thing that happened, he was almost getting used to it. There was clearly a more pressing matter to be looked into. ]

So what, there are levels of apocalypse I didn't know about? A wide range of terms and all that shit. Oh no, we're officially at merciless-tier but at least it's not abandon-all-hope?

[Sin shrugs, glancing at a wooden beam, and determining it not good enough as a weapon, tossing it aside.] I don't know anything about it, just that my old man was pissing himself about it back home. Maybe? I mean, we already had what people called an apocalypse before I was born, so that might be true...

[Leaving out the fact that the cause of that apocalypse was his grandmother, technically. Multiple apocalypses? What an interesting way of looking at things, Sin thought. Maybe Strider was right.]

[There you go, Bro, putting whacky ideas in his impressionable 2 year old head again. Shameful.] I wouldn't even mind it so much if I just had my damn powers back. It'd be no problem, then. But my mother at least should be okay, since her systems're back...

Haven't caught sight of any flags up in this mess. There are probably a couple of burnt-up USAs around town, don't know if that'll be a big deal. If I could get around like I was yesterday I would know. [ Such is life. ] Y'know, on end of the world scales, this is a pretty sweet deal so far. Still got some planet left.

[Sin pauses to consider searching up and down the streets for another extra flagpole, but Bro catches his very short attention span once again.] Why, what were you doin' yesterday?

...As far as we can tell. It's not like we can see out of this shitty town, anyway.

Making my rounds through the village sanctum with the speed I should've had from day one, brah.

[ ...eh. ] Nah, nah, the world isn't over 'til the meteors start hitting.

[Sin looks thoughtful] Huh? Mm.. What, like your power, or something? Really, you got your power back!? ..Wonder why I haven't felt any different yet... How'd you... [Frowning, Sin furrows his brow thoughtfully.]

Why meteors? Those're like, spacerocks, right?

[ This is the best conversation. ]

Yeah. Big chunks of rock just floating around in space, orbiting whatever shit pulls 'em in. Unless they're hurtling towards the earth.

[Just wait until Sol gets ahold of you, filling his mind with this nonsense :| Space. Pfft. B|]

And... then what? [So they hit the Earth, SO WHAT? Somebody here doesn't have much grasp on the concept of mass x velocity = force.]

[(Sorry Bro science kind of took a nosedive after their first apocalypse happened. Also this is Sin you're talking to.)]

[ Ahh, Sin. ]

.....well. The short version is basically the fact that huge-ass rocks speeding towards Earth en masse will reduce the planet to a giant dirt clod covered in corpses and steaming craters. Usually.

...Oh.

Yeah, that's bad. But how would we even know, since we can't get outta town, anyway?

[You know apart from that enormous mushroom cloud off in the distance, which he's just taken note of.] ..The hell...?

[ Mushroom clouds. Cliches. ] That's probably about where we find shit out. Unless the big mystical barrier schtick just fails to apply to nukes.
