(no subject)
Ok So I finally got my brand new xbox 360! :D
DAMN this thing rocks:
Ok so I have had my xbox for 24 hours now, time for my review since I've (more or less) put it through it's paces....
All the previews and reviews that we have all read in the last months leading up to this has referred to the 360 as "xbox 1.5", this definatly applies, but it's NOT a bad thing however...
M$ has took all the stongssuits of the xbox and amplifyed them, you'll find more media abilities that are easy and intuitive, (streaming music off my 20gb 4th gen iPod was simple and the music was mixed into the background of the game by the xbox itself), the visualizer on the Media player was great! (hook this up to an HD at a party with an iPod and you're done playing dj for the night )...
One AWESOME feature that was totally overlooked in all reviews was the bulit in CDDB database! Without EVER being hooked to a net connection (or my computer) I was able to toss almost any of my cd's into the xbox and it could tell me the track name, artist, and album info. All i had to do was hit "rip cd" and it copied all the songs to the hard drive, the speed was very fast as it copys multiple songs at once... EXCELLENT feature M$
When I finally got it (after the whole debacle yesterday afternoon ) I set it up on my normal CRT tv, all I can say is WOW! The graphics are amazing I can't wait to get this thing hooked up to an HD and try it out on there...
now for the few bad things...
-The power supply - JESUS! that's one hell of a beast, forget the xbox falling and killing a small child, the power supply did it!
-Heat was a bit of a concern, playing hexic for 20 min caused the back of the unit to be fairly warm, not incredably so, but slightly concerning
other then that the unit is awesome, the new 360 controller is most likely the greatest controller ever, I can only see the possibilits so far, over the next 4 years M$ is going to blow our minds...
