I've been quiet lately because we've been away, and then catching up with things. We went back to Arizona and visited my BIL and SIL again. This time we visited the
Sonoran Desert,
Tubac while their Arts Festival was on (it's an artistic community anytime), the
Biosphere -- remember that? It's still in use for research, belongs to the University of Arizona now. And we went back to
Kartchner Cavern to visit the part of the cave where the bats have their nursery in the summer, so you can only go in the Winter half of the year. We went to the
Amerind Museum, a lovely collection of artifacts, modern crafts, and art.
I've just loaded a bunch of the photos onto my laptop but haven't got them on Photobucket for sharing yet...
Today we went and saw the move
Risen, the one about the death and resurrection of Jesus from the point of view of a Roman Tribune (I think that is like a general?). It was really good, I like the take on the story -- the outsider's view, and the casting was right on.
Next week,
Eddie the Eagle opens. I really want this one to be good! When he was in the Olympics, the coverage in the United States was still about the human struggle and striving for personal best as well as for medals. The unlikely heroes were given airtime as well as the winners, and they interviewed the athletes and told their stories. Not like nowadays when it's so much more slick and "professional" looking.
