MAAAAAN, today's game was so damn tight. STA PREP (formerly known as St. Anselm's) beat Sandy Spring Friends School in a dogfight to the end, 3-2. With many many fans, a barbecue cookin, and a fast paced game, this has to go down as one of the best games, overall, in Panther history. SSFS started out the scoring in the 10th minute, when highly touted 8th grade phenom/Freddy Adu look-a-like, struck on a header. Having not been down all season, the Panthers kept it rolling till the 20th minute, when Scott tapped a low shot passed the keeper who charged off his line. The score was 1-1. In the 50th minute, I can't exactly remember what happened... but, I got the ball, beat a defender, and rocketed a right foot blast, upper 90, right post, past a keeper who didn't move. Celebration ensued; I went to the corner flag, grabbed the post, and did my version of the Brazilian Samba dance, along with Isidore, and Marsh came over to give congrats. Yet, the crowed seemed silent, sorry if I "showboated", cuz I didn't offend any of our fans. Anyway, SSFS came back in the 70th minute with a high shot, the caught sophomore goalkeeper Dan Quasney off his line. Without even thinking the thought of defeat, Panthers senior center midfielder, Ben Marsh rocketed a blast, from 35 yards, to cap the victory and send the Panther faithful crazy.
Next game is Monday at Montrose Christian School, which should be an easy victory. More importantly, we play Grace Brethren next Thursday at home, one of the elite games of the season.
