SATURDAYWe left for San Francisco at about 11. Got In N Out on the way there, so I was a happy camper. We checked in at one, and went swimming, which was nice because I hadn't been in forever. We showered then and went out to dinner. We went to this place called Joe's at Westlake. It was super SUPER packed, we had to wait for like a half hour, but ( Read more... )

OMG, Wicked. I seriously love that show so much. Glad you had a great first experience!

Defying Gravity is pretty much my favorite Broadway song (while it's being performed live) of all time. No matter how many times I see it, it will never get old. She usually does fly up at the end - or is at least suspended pretty high up, so the lighting looks like she's flying. How did they do it in this production?

Also, omg, so jealous of your Fieyro. Both times I've seen it, the Fieyros have been subpar (in my opinion). Especially when I saw it in Denver--that guy just sounded...well, not awful, but I cringed more than once and desperately longed for Norbert Leo Butz.

Defying Gravity seriously blew me away. It's just SUCH an amazingly powerful song, it just overtakes you.

She just... didn't. They had a lot of smoke and light coming from where she was standing, so I guess that might have been them ~implying~ that by some way or another, the guards couldn't get to her.

Oye, I hate when that happens, when there's one of the main characters where you're just like, "Um, how did they get cast?" My Fieryo sounded so much like NLB that it was seriously eery, haha. But he was really good.

I heard that San Fran has been having technical problems with their lift - yes, Elphaba is supposed to fly at the end of Defying Gravity.

That's what I thought.
I was talking to my friend today who saw it a few weeks ago, and she said that Elphaba flew when she saw it, so I guess they were just having a bad day with it.

I find it hilarious that you'd never seen Wicked.

Oh DeeDee! She was my second Nessarose! Her husband is hot! Their son is so cute!

btw, REMEMBER WHEN WE KICKED YOUR ASSES IN HOCKEY? THAT WAS FUN.

lol I know right? FIVE YEARS LATE TO THE GAME, LEILA. GREAT JOB. And like, I knew about it before basically all my friends, but most of them saw it before I did, haha.

She was great!

LOL, actually, I was rooting for Canada (well, kind of) just because I thought of how sad it would be if you guys lost at hockey. My interest in the Olympics was next to nil, lol XD

Seriously. I think it surprises me the most because of how often you go to New York. I mean, I've been knowing you on the internet for like barely two years, and I know of two times you've gone, so it's like, how did you never get the chance to see it any of those times. :P

But the US is a stacked team. They are definitely our biggest competitioin. Especially the goalie, he played so so so well during the entire tournament.

I've only been once, girl. :P Summer 2008. I went to Seattle before that in August 2007 because I didn't know when I'd be able to get to New York to see YF, and I went to London last spring and saw shows there, but NYC has only been once.

And like, idk, I have a thing with seeing shows that I KNOW I could see otherwise or that I know will run forever, as opposed to others that won't tour and will only run a few months. I feel guilty, haha.
