Captain Midnight and the Moonlight Raiders
I've had this project on my mind and in and out of various paper napkin design concepts for some time now and well today was its day... I was determined to finalize the circuit design, run the computer simulations, build and tweak the project until either it was completed or I had passed out with the ZZZzzzzzZZZZz's sticking to my forehead like hot tapioca on a El Paso summer night.
A NEW PROJECT YOU ASK?
Well I’m always glad you ask.
This one is a low power MEPT (Manned Experimental Propagation Beacon) for the 30 meter band running at around 10.140MHz. The design is pretty straight forward an RF signals gets shifted and gives a nice visual signal for other people to see and they can in-turn give you signal reports, as well if they are seeing this low power signal then they also know the propagation conditions are good for QRP (low power communications "less the 5 watts ERP") and they can hit the bands.
I’m not going to get fancy with this one, just a piece of scrap pcb, pull the needed parts from the sacrificial boards… just design and build that’s all this one is about. So hold on tight here it is.
OK COOL! So whats it do?
No SHI#! Yeap, NO SHI#! That is what it does... it gives a nice clean sine wave signal on the other end of the radio when you use a visual aid program (SpectrumLab Software is what I used here).
Anyway, it was nice to finally put this project into some form of completion all it needs now is a nice output filter to remove harmonics and a shielded enclosure to truly finish it off.
p.s. yes i know the trafo leads are long... I'll clean it all up in post production dont you know! Me Tired..ME Go Bed Now!!!
