Nancy Drew and the Case of the Too Many Lolis

Jun 22, 2008 15:37

So I was working on handbags again today. Or at least attempting to.

I have the pieces pinned for two hippie bags... I was going through my fabric and realized I have lots of remnants of girly fabric I don't think goes with my current style.

I started researching Lolita fashion to come up with some ideas to expand my handbag styles, I figured I'd do that then scrounge around the net for more fashion to incorporate in my delightful craft.

HOLY SH*T THERE'S LOTS OF LOLIS.

I have two little pieces of paper (from ONE article) covered in notes to myself. I've got eleven (technically fourteen) Loli styles listed so far. The other page is just reference material encompassing not one, not two, but FIVE periods the style borrows elements from.

(Look! I was nice! XD I said borrow instead of raep. Not that *ALL* loli is raep (HAR loli raep) but some of the things I have seen... those cannot be unseen. EVAR. Those were raep, for the goggles did nothing. I shudder to think.)

So I invite all lolis that read this journal (ITT: arktoi comments, though I'm making this post publicly available for perusal) to tell me of all things loli. What do you look for when you accessorize? What kinds of colors do lolis liek? What kinds of things do lolis need to carry around, i.e. what size handbags do lolis prefer? Are all sizes Fair Game (see SCIENTOLOGY)? What kind of symbols do lolis associate with, in regards to a particular loli style? For example, do lolis liek butterflies? Spiderwebs? Mudkipz? Do lolis like lace on EVERYTHING, and how much is too much? How many lolis can dance on the head of a pin? What strap length is preferable to the discerning loli? Do lolis like wristlet clutches? Shoulder bags? Messenger bags? Do lolis look for items that utilize embroidery, applique, beadwork, or all of the above? Are items that contain NONE of the above still desirable? How many times did I use the word "loli" or a variation thereof in the last paragraph?

Wikipedia is useless. You can't ALL carry purses shaped like hearts and bunnies. (If you do, *I* advise you start trying harder. I wouldn't be caught DEAD in a room full of haute couture fashionistas carrying the same handbag as someone else. But maybe lolis are different.)

PLZ ADVISE
