Summary: Yunho has a lot to learn about being a dad. Luckily, he has an amazing husband to help him.

Yunho loved his son. He was the best thing that ever happened to his life, besides marrying Jaejoong of course. And he would literally do anything for his son, which shouldn’t be too much or too drastic since a three month old can hardly ask for stuff. And that was actually the problem.

Alexander had been crying non-stop and Yunho didn’t know what to do. His son couldn’t talk, except for a few gurgles that would come out once in a while, and that certainly didn’t help his dilemma. And Yunho felt like crying himself. He was alone at the moment, Jaejoong had gone to work once Alexander had fallen asleep after they had breakfast but it was now lunchtime and Alex just wouldn’t stop crying.

And Yunho wouldn’t stop panicking.

He had changed Alex’s diaper, and that itself was a great sacrifice. He tried to give him some more formula but his son wasn’t hungry. He tried burping him, that didn’t work. And Alex wasn’t teething yet so that was out too. Heck, he even tried telling him stories and putting on The Lion King but nothing worked.

“Alex, shh baby, no need to cry.” Yunho murmured, rubbing circles on his son’s back as he cradled him close to his chest.

Alex was resolute though, and continued letting ear-splitting cries.

When he figured Alex wasn’t going to stop crying anytime soon, he decided it was time to call his husband.

“Yunho? Everything ok?” Just hearing the other’s voice brought a bit of relief to Yunho.

“No.” He mumbled, sounding pitiful. “Alex won’t stop crying and I don’t know what to do.”

Jaejoong's mother instincts kicked in. “Is he hungry?”

“Nope, tired to feed him but he ignored me. And I changed his diaper and did everything but- but he wont stop.”

“Yun-ah, breathe.” Jaejoong murmured, trying to soothe his husband. He didn’t want to have his two favorite boys in the world to be crying.

Yunho took in a shaky breath, his cellphone resting between his shoulder and cheek while his hands were wrapped protectively around Alex.

"Ok, now what is he wearing?" Jaejoong asked after ensuring that Yunho had somewhat calmed down.

"...What?"

"Clothes, Yunho. What is Alex wearing?"

"The dinosaur pajamas... why?"

"Feel his back, is he sweaty? He might be complaining about being too warm, it is rather hot today."

Yunho hadn't thought of that. "Let me check." He put his cellphone on speaker before setting it down as he settled on the couch to check his son's back. Alex continued fussing as Yunho let his fingers gently go under the green dinosaur pajamas, feeling his son's soft, pale skin.

"Yunho?"

"You're right." Yunho answered, sounding awed.

"Of course I am. I'm always right." Jaejoong said indignantly, shocked that Yunho would think otherwise. "Just grab one of the white undershirts and the blue pants, he should be fine with those."

"I- yeah ok." Yunho couldn't believe how well Jaejoong knew their son. It made him feel rather hopeless actually, that he couldn’t figure out what his son wanted.

"Yunho, stop beating yourself up." Jaejoong suddenly said, as if he could hear Yunho's mulling. "You're a great dad."

Yunho smiled. "Thank you Jaejae."

"Now that that's settled, go change Alex. If he's still crying call me, ok?"

"Ok."

"Good. Give Alex a kiss for me. And Yunho?"

"Yes BooJae?"

"I love you."

Yunho's heart gave an excited jolt. He never got tired of hearing those words come out of Jaejoong's mouth. "I love you too."

"Hm, alright talk to you later. Bye Yunnie."

"Bye." He waited for Jaejoong to hang up before putting his cellphone down.

Alexander's high pitched cries had reduced to a combination of hiccups and whimpers, but he was still fussing. "Let's get you into some fresh clothes ok Alex?"

He walked to the nursery, rubbing his son’s back in an attempt to calm him down slightly, it was futile of course, Alex wouldn’t stop crying unless he was comfortable. Yunho quickly went to the dresser, carefully shifting Alex to one arm before opening the drawers with his free hand.

He took out the blue pants Jaejoong had mentioned before choosing an undershirt with a panda imprint. He walked over to the changing table, setting the clothes on it and then laying Alex on the soft cushion. His son was still squirming about, eyes red from crying and now Yunho could see how the tiny locks of hair were matted with sweat.

Yunho frowned, upset with himself for not knowing what his son needed. But he didn’t want to dwell on that. Now that he knew what Alex wanted, he’d do well to follow.

“You’ll be out of those pajamas soon, buddy.” Yunho murmured, unbuttoning the one-piece pj’s. He carefully took out Alex’s tiny arms from the sleeves before slipping in the undershirt. He didn’t want Alex to go from warm to cool too suddenly.

Alex was now looking around curiously, little gasps making his chest go up and down while Yunho changed him. He moved the dinosaur pj’s down while making sure the undershirt was covering his son. Once the flannel pj’s were taken off, Yunho slipped the blue pants on, marveling at the fact that Alex’s cries had subsided completely, he was even gurgling happily now.

Yunho smiled, placing his hand on Alex’s tiny chest and rubbing it gently. He could see that Alexander was close to falling asleep, his bright blue eyes, now free of tears, were blinking slowly. Now that he was comfortable, sleep seemed like a good idea.

He carefully picked up his bundle of joy, not wanting for Alex to sleep on the changing table, and placed him down inside the crib. After making sure that Alex was well of into dreamland, he called Jaejoong.

“He’s not still crying, is he?” Jaejoong asked as a greeting.

“No.” Yunho said softly, sitting on the rocking chair at the corner of the nursery. “You were right.”

“I usually am, yes.” Jaejoong replied. Yunho could picture him smiling smugly at that.

“Wish I could be right too.” Yunho murmured, pouting slightly.

There was a soft sigh on the other end. “Yun-ah, you’ll learn. You just need to be more observant, that’s all. You’re doing great.”

Yunho let out a noncommittal sound.

“Sweetheart, it’ll be fine. We’re both learning.”

“Yeah but you’re just amazing at this and I’m-”

“Amazing too.” Jaejoong cut in, “please baby, don’t belittle yourself.”

Yunho took in a deep breath. “I love you, you know that right?”

Jaejoong chuckled slightly. “Yes, I know. And I love you too.”

“Come home?”

“Always.”
