The Perfect Tree

First, yes I am alive, it's been so long since I wrote here, but so much has been happening and changing that I can't seem to sit myself down and write anything.

The love I had or thought I had isn't what it was and it looks like I'll be spending Christmas on my own or with friends and family, no big love for Lexi for the holidays. I'll survive. I've still got plenty of time to find that perfect someone.

So, last nite I stopped at the nursery to check out their Christmas trees. Wasn't actually planning to buy one yet, was just browsing at decorations & stuff. Normally I go to 4 or 5 different tree lots until I find the perfect tree, often ending up back at the 1st lot. Well last nite, at the 1st lot I found the perfect tree & it was the 1st one I laid eyes on. Imagine my surprise! The perfect little tree for my little place.

Today, I set it up in the tree stand and despite all my best efforts, am unable to get it to stand up straight (an exercise I am normally quite adept at). Ok, so it's no longer quite perfect, but it's still quite nice.

Now, the part I realllly dread. The installation of the lights, which normally takes me about 3 times longer that most folks. First, there are numerous eggnog breaks; then I proceed to call every person on the planet I can think of in order to delay the torture. I know most people just kind of drape em round & round, but for some insane reason, I feel the need to attach the little wire twists next to each lite on the branches.

Okay, now I'm starting to see little brown spots on the branches & copious amounts of needles falling to the floor. We still have nearly 3 weeks until Christmas & I'm beginning to imagine a pyrotechnic display originating from my lit up Christmas tree. And if I'm going to spend all this aggravation putting on lights, I'll be damned if my tree is going to stay dark to protect us from the aforementioned pyrotechnic display...if you see what I mean!

So, alas....tomorrow it's back to the nursery for a tree exchange. I see a bunch of tree lots in my future...sigh.....

I still love Christmas more than any other holiday.
