Worrying behaviour

Sep 05, 2012 18:58

My sub-conscious appears to have decided for me which fic option I'm going for next, which was considerate of it. Just as I thought I was going to have a little break from writing to concentrate on real life, my brain's been hijacked by a plot.

Even more worrying is the fact that today I've been happily designing a spreadsheet to work out a Hogwarts ( Read more... )

I'd love to see the timetable you figured out. Care to share?

It's still very much a work in progress at the moment, but if I get anything presentable at the end I'll be happy to share! I'm basically trying to work out to my satisfaction if the "one teacher teaching one subject to the whole school" thing actually works out, and how much flexibility there is for free periods etc. It's quite possible little of this will actually make it into the fic, but I find it oddly satisfying!

I'd love to see it too. And I know about the hijacking thing also. I just go with it now. It's harder work to fight the impulse ...

I know about the hijacking thing too. I usually just give in and try to find the time.

I'm beginning to suspect that the reason Snape was in a permanently foul temper was because he was having to use a Time Turner to fit in all of his classes....

Yeah, I've always vaguely wondered if there were enough hours in the day without magical assistance... Maybe the class day actually runs from six am to midnight. ;)

Wonderful as I think JKR is, I'm beginning to suspect she may not have sat there with a spreadsheet to work it all out! I think I've sort of got everything to fit, with a few fiddles including putting some of the NEWT / OWL classes outside the normal school day. They really work the teachers hard at Hogwarts. I think Sprout must have done a roaring trade in illicit herbal substances to keep everyone going. Now there's a prompt. ;)

And Snape was definitely using a Time Turner when he was covering Lupin's classes as well!
