so, for my advanced poetry class, i'm supposed to bring in a favorite or recently written poem of mine. and i haven't really been writing poetry lately, but i have been writing songs. this first one posted i finished a while ago (this past april), and the second one i finished at work about a month ago. i don't know if i'll bring either of these into class. but if not either of these, then it's going to be something from poetry class last semester. hmmm....
Patch of Fog
So what’s wrong today
On this beautiful, beautiful day?
You look sad again
For no reason
I can’t imagine what you’re going
Through but you never even knew how
Happiness felt before you jumped the
Gun and took the easy way out
So, baby, what’s the news?
Is it rain or blue skies today?
There’s a patch of fog
Overhead
Then a breath of air
Comes from nowhere
And it feels like hope
Yeah, it feels like hope
Just let the sun shine down
Just let the sun shine down
Just let the sun shine down
Just let the sun shine down on your face
Hero (working title)
Oh, say your prayers, little girl
Before you try to save the world
I know you can but you are thinking
Otherwise about yourself
The more he takes advantage
The more you take yourself for granted
And when he takes advantage
You can’t forget you’re still alive
Don’t turn away from the truth
‘Cause then the lie will eat at you
So hold your head up high and stay strong
And the worst will leave you soon
The more she talks about it
The more you fear your handle on it
And when she talks about it
You know it’s too late, don’t turn back
The more they fight about it
The more you know you’ve got to end it
And when they fight about it
You know it’s too hard to ignore
No need for prayers, little girl
Before you go and save the world
I knew you could all along but you had
To be pushed to know you’re strong
The more they fight about it
The more you know you’ve got to end it
And when they fight about it
You know it’s too late, you can't turn back
