Title: DAZZLING STAR
Name: Hoshiko Quirke, Hitsugaya Toshiro

Suethor: Artgrrl
Rating: Gin
Pairings: None at this point.

Appearance: Hoshiko has brown hair and blue eyes and is fifteen years of age. Toshiro is unfortunately described as albino.

Background: Hoshiko is traveling from America to Japan to live with her cousins and grandmother, no reason given. She used to be a substitute shinigami in America, no explanation given as to how she got her powers.

Sue Qualifications: The whole story revolves around Hoshiko, including some very boring, overly drawn out school scenarios. She mysteriously lost her memories not to long ago and doesn't remember that she was a substitute shinigami. She has a special substitute badge, that... instead of having a skull and crossbones, happens to have a skull and butterfly wings.

She happens to have purification powers, that happen to release hollows. Except... that is what killing a hollow did. It sent it to hell or soul society depending on the crime. Hollows are actually crying out for her to bring them to the light. She even manages to cause Ichigo to lose his hollow mask.

Meanwhile, Toshiro, the child genius of the Gotei Thirteen was apparently held back a year because he skipped classes and so he could keep an eye on this Quirke gal, which is an Irish last name.
Annoying Attributes: I think I'll start with the fact that when this fan comic was published, everyone was in the middle of the Winter War. However, the fan comic clearly mentions Ichigo asking if someone was working for Aizen. What a dead give away that someone isn't current. They should all be in the same grade as her, but are a year ahead, except Toshiro... who faled.

Then there is the fact that Toshiro was called albino. The definition of albino is not “a person who has white hair”. To quote wikepedia as it is currently written, it “is a congenital disorder characterized by the complete of partial absense of pigment in the skin, hair and eyes due to the absense of defect of an enzyme involved in the production of melanin. Toshiro does not match up with the symptoms of being albino because his skin is not pale and his eyes are a nice teal color. Having light colored hair is NOT a sign of having albinism.

There is also the fact that Toshiro would NOT have put up with being “failed” or being painted as a jerk. They CAN erase memories and I think Ichigo and company would have come up with a better explanation for the situation.

Her family is obnoxious... at least Isshin was believable.

Synopsis:

We are given a scene with Hoshiko in her gigai and her badge being tossed at her. We then have her flying to America and her getting mad about someone calling her “Ho”. Later on in an omake it goes into the fact that this was a shortening of her name, which I personally doubt would happen.

Her family consists of the following. A male cousin with a flat personality. A grandma who is poker buddies with Isshin and acts like she could run circles around him and his son combined. A female cousin who is a mix between Yuzu and Momo, getting angry easily at someone not eating her cooking, or criticizing her art work.

The twelth division is contacted by America and we have Hoshiko running around absolutely confused about the situation. Instead of asking questions, she decides to run away. She also relies on the gossip central, who is just plain obnoxious. Eventually, the people from America come to see her, so they can take her badk to America's Soul Society, or something like that.
