The city of Guri is bordered by walls on all sides. Haibane live in structures that are abandoned by people and have gone through long use. Haibane metalize in this world as small, fluffy, cotton like seeds. These seeds will eventually become huge cocoons. And once these cocoons break, Haibane are born. Haibanes dream inside the cocoon. And that dream becomes the basis for the names they will be called in this world. Once they grow wings, and get accustomed to this world, Haibanes go to find work in the city. Basically, the structure that's outlasted human lives has become their workplace.
