A "woot woot" for Soul Society

Sep 24, 2006 19:48

Name/Nickname: Amanda/Mandy
Age: 19

Likes: Hoisin sauce, dipping snacks into hot chocolate, taking surprise photos of people, hiding in the library and immersing myself in books, philosophical debates, all kinds of mythology and superstitions, plaid patterns, tetris and racing videogames, zombie movies, organization, japanese gardens, and... volkswagon buses.
Dislikes: Open water and heights, pineapple and mushrooms, outrageously spicey foods, predictable story plots, people not being on time, bright colours, the sound of metal windchimes, extreme physical activities, and... the smell of citrus.

Strong points: I'm an excellent public speaker in contrast to my rather quiet personality, I definitely have a knack for talking to crowds. I'm not afraid to laugh at myself and can push myself beyond my comfort zone in order to make others feel more comfortable. Languages come easy to me. I'm pretty open minded and hardly get offended by anything. My thumb is green! I can grow anything!
Weaker points: I'm horrible with one-on-one situations because I am quiet and would rather listen than talk. Being interested in so many things means that I usually have multiple projects going and some people see that as a lack of commitment. I get motion sickness easily. Most books that I take out from the library tend to be overdue when I return them. Supreme fear of bugs! I try to get other people to kill the offending insect because I lack the guts to do it myself ("zomg! what if it becomes a vengeful spirit and haunts me forever?!") but if there's no one around, I close my eyes and find the heaviest shoe available.

Hobbies &/or Talents: Apparently reading the news, I spend a lot of online time reading news articles from other countries. Learning new languages and translating, digital photography, writing essays and fanfiction, roleplaying, stamp collecting and penpaling, wasting time at fleamarkets... Hmm, people have marvelled at my ability to stay awake and take notes throughout even the most boring of classes. And have I mentioned writing?

Favorite color: Dark and navy blues.
Favorite animal: Sharks (probably the reason for my fear of open water)
Favorite season: Spring

Mature or Immature: Depends on the situation, but I always have an air of maturity.
Leader or Follower: Leader -puffs up-
Outgoing or Shy: I'm quiet, not shy. But I'm not physically outgoing either, mentally outgoing, yeah.
Confident or Modest: After writing all this stuff about myself... I would like to say modest.
Optimistic, Pessimistic, or Realist: An optimist around pessimists and a pessimist around optimists.
Low, medium, or high energy level: Ranges from low to medium.

Goals in life: Learn how to play the piano. Eventually have a family. Work as either an English tutor over in Hong Kong or work as a translator for businesses, maybe in a hospital.

Favorite quote & why: "When I am attacked by gloomy thoughts, nothing helps me so much as running to my books. They quickly absorb me and banish the clouds from my mind." Michel de Montaigne (1533 - 1592)

I honestly don't have a favourite quote so I went to Quotations Page to pick one out. This quote sums up why I love books, although, I like to think the "banish the clouds" bit as more of "clearing the cobwebs" and making the mind more open to new ideas rather than "Faeries and dragons! teehee, I'm totally avoiding reality!"

Describe your personality in three words or more: Conscientious, introvert, honest.

Favorite character & why: Mayuri. Because he was the one character who got a major reaction out of me, I scoffed at Byakuya, I cackled at Ichimaru's awesomeness, I glared at Aizen, I squeed with Soi Fong - but Mayuri. MayuriMayuriMayuri.. it was like "I hate you but at the same time you are so awesome and I want to have your babies." He is an underrated character to the extreme. He works hard with his research, granted, his experiments raise some moral issues but he did a lot of data work for the Shinigami and the other captains just don't give him the respect he deserves. His voice... his hands... The bathscene! People say he's evil, but I disagree.

Least favorite character & why: Yumichika. Because he's annoying. I don't see how Kenpachi puts up with him.

Anything else: Eeeh, I don't think so? I'm really curious to see what people say ^^;
