Shipping implies a piece centered around a romantic or sexual relationship between two or more characters.
Can I write a single character introspecting about their ship?
Yes! Introspection is good! As long as they’re thinking about their partner, and their relationship to one another.
My characters are in the pre/post-relationship stage is that still shipping?
Yes! As long as the story is focus about the repercussions and the importance of that relationship status.
I was trying to hook up A and B, and it ended up being Genfic. What do I do?
Great job! You finished something! Simply trade out the Shipping prompt for one in your Gen table, and add us a note in the intro part of your fic when it’s posted. Don’t feel pressured to keep it strictly Ship oriented; this is supposed to be fun!
