Catching Up

Ugh, so little energy this week. Between allergies (which don't seem to be so bad this year for me, but not absent entirely), everything that goes with the new school year for work, days getting shorter, the heat over the last several days, and general stress, I've been going to bed really early this whole week. I typically go to bed around 11 but this week it's been more like 9-9:30.

In brief:

- Mom stress. 'Nuff said.
- Noticing how much more secure I feel in my job and my abilities to do my job. That's kinda cool (and about damn time).
- The Boyfriend gives great Date. I had my first taste of Kobe beef. Also got to watch the Chapman Swifts for the first time. Pretty danged awesome.
- Bummed I didn't get the Learn to Sew class through the community college. If there's 7+ people on the waitlist for a class of 12 people, maybe it's time to open another section of it. Just a thought. I really wanted to learn how to use my Hello Kitty sewing machine.
- Garden madness: tomatoes going crazy, cucumbers and purple beans about finished, several sunflowers starting to produce really good seedheads, beets are sprouting already, parsnips planted, bulbs are planted, and some flowers are ready to transplant.
- Killed off one of the poky bushes (on purpose) to make room next spring for huckleberries or blueberries or raspberries. Will eventually kill off one of the butterfly bushes for the same reason.
-Stupid brick wall at the end of my driveway strip got smashed. I don't know what happened, if a car hit it or someone was just standing on it and the weight made it collapse. I don't know how to fix it either. Suggestions welcome, both for quick fixes and longer-term solutions/improvements. At the moment, I'm thinking of wood retaining walls. Whatever the solution, I'd like to get something done before the rains start up in earnest.
