Thursday I decided to go for round 2 with the curlers. I thought I’d try a couple of things differently - putting a few in at different angles, using some of the smaller curlers in place of the larger ones…
…and leaving it all in overnight.
It wasn’t quite as comfortable sleeping in the sponge rollers as I’d hoped, but it definitely wasn’t as bad as I’d feared either. I can see it not taking much to get used to.
Then morning came. Here I am having only taken out the curlers - no styling whatsoever.
Definitely curlier than I’d expected! I probably should have stopped there. I didn’t realize I was ahead of the game at this point.
I have a lot to learn about working with curly hair. For instance, I didn’t know that the comb and brush are no longer my friend.
You guys who asked for “more poofy” can all suck it.
I was starting to have visions of wearing a head scarf all day at work. But I found a big clip that pulled it all back into a sort of mane. My hair tried to eat the clip once or twice before I latched it all into place.
Not bad, eh? I couldn't stop petting it. It was a totally different texture than I'm used to, and it carried against my head way different than I'm used to.
Later, in the evening, Michael and I got ready to go out to a show. I decided after having it up all day and driving around with it some, I’d probably better reassess the hair.
There’s still a bit of curl and volume at the bottom, but between time in general and the clip pulling on it, the upper part has definitely straightened out. There’s no curl whatsoever left in my bangs. Just dents where the bobby pins sat all day. Still, there was some nice poofiness left once I’d put it back up in the clip for going out.
I don’t have a picture from Friday morning. There was some frizz and volume at the ends this morning, but that was about it. And that all left after washing it.
I don’t see this becoming a regular thing. It is nice to have another trick up my sleeve though.
